A trip to Madrid

Madrid is 600 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest capital cities in Europe. Hot summers alternate with cold winters. The city lies at the center of the Iberian Peninsula. It currently has nearly three and a half million inhabitants.

Madrid became the capital of Spain in 1561 under the leadership of Philip II. Therefore, the Iberian city is enriched by numerous monuments including palaces, churches, monasteries ... This abundance is called the Hapsburg Madrid.

In the eighteenth century, the Bourbons succeeded the Habsburgs. Madrid then enjoyed great urban momentum. Artistic commitment rulers such as Charles III or Philip V led to the construction of new architectural treasures. Monuments, gardens, squares are then the Madrid of the Bourbons.

These two dynasties have given us an exceptional heritage. The Spanish capital is bound to delight art lovers thanks to its monuments, its old town and its colorful streets ??. Capital, Madrid is a modern, cosmopolitan city moving, where there are a thousand things to do day and night.

Histoire de Madrid
Vers 880, l'émir Mohammed Ier fonde Madrid.

A trip to Montreal

The elusive Montreal ... The Americans found him a European side, the European American-like in some ways ... you'll understand Montreal city of Canada, can not be defined easily. Finally, if everyone agrees on its charm, nonchalant atmosphere and cosmopolitanism.

The second French-speaking metropolis after Paris has a mosaic of neighborhoods architecture and varied influences, remarkable museums, some nice green space, enhanced by an intense cultural life and nightlife.

Old Montreal has been a successful restoration. Place d'Armes, Place Jacques-Cartier, the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Château Ramezay are so many historical monuments, tracing the history of the small French colony Ville-Marie, Montreal's ancestor. The center reflects meanwhile economic prosperity today. Chinatown, the Latin Quarter, the underground city, the Village ?? visitors discover that Montreal is primarily a city of neighborhoods, each of which differs from others.

Tucked between Mount Royal, here we just call him "the mountain," and the St. Lawrence River, Montreal is far from being a prisoner of its city planning. Moreover, to preserve it from commercial speculation, Mount Royal was bought by the city in 1875 for the modest sum of one million dollars (!). Today Montrealers enjoy walking the trails of Mont-Royal and practice different activities: cycling, jogging, ice skating and even skiing in winter!

Another aspect and not least, the city's cultural life. It has become one of the most "in view" of the planet. Concert halls and theaters offer both classic and avant-garde creations. Additionally, the city annually hosts a string of international festivals: Jazz Festival, Festival International Film Festival, Just for Laughs, Francofolies ?? ...

Finally, visitors can enjoy the nightlife of bars and nightclubs. The Latin Quarter and the Village, the gay neighborhood, are ideal for outings.

     History of Montreal

Montreal was founded in 1642 by a group of willing and nuns led by Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve. These established a colony called Ville-Marie to evangelize the Indians of New France. It is known that Jacques Cartier led the way and went into the region in 1535, however it is truly with Paul de Chomedey the city was established. Ville-Marie developed through the fur trade.

In 1760, the British captured the city and a wave of immigrants from England, Scotland and Ireland landed in Montreal. The Treaty of Paris of 1763 grants of New France to Britain. The mid-nineteenth century, Montreal has 58 000 inhabitants, mostly English.

The city has a strong economic development, particularly through the construction of railway networks and the Lachine Canal, allowing boats to cross the rapids south of the island. An Anglophone bourgeoisie benefits from this growth and take the reins of the economy.

In the 1880s, new waves of immigrants Italians, Russians and Jews flesh out the population of the city. The early twentieth century was marked by inflation and unemployment. The 1950s saw the development of the banking sector and Montreal became the financial center of Canada.

In 1970, the city has more than two million inhabitants. Various major projects are undertaken: the subway, the creation of the underground city, a world first.

Montreal hosts major events sweeping the Montreal landscape: the Universal Exhibition of 1967 and the 1976 Olympic Games in the second half of the twentieth century, Montreal was robbed of the title city in Canada by Toronto. In 1992, Montreal celebrated its 350th anniversary.

Tunisie

Integral part of the Maghreb, Tunisia is still too often trapped images-postcards that haunt the imagination (exotic beaches, ruins edifying, desert solitude ...), as many clichés synonymous with successful holiday.
Guardian of a delicate balance between modernity and tradition, Tunisia still offers a thousand and one ways to discover its other facets. The traveler can then easily follow fugitive impressions of civilizations that have succeeded on the landscape and shaped them: the Phoenicians who founded Carthage, the Romans, who destroyed it all and colonized North Africa, Byzantines, Arabs, Andalusians, Turks and Italians and French.
Tunisia offers history, but any short landscapes landscapes: the diversity of coasts was matched only shades of Djebel or the desert. Rainy mountains Kroumirie the first dunes of the Sahara through the plains of the Sahel, Tunisia is a land of encounter, a crossroads of civilizations. Remember Hamilcar, of St. Augustine, Ibn Khaldun, Barbarossa ...

In tourist areas (Grand Tunis, coastal area, island of Djerba, tourist areas in the governorates of Tozeur and Kebili), the security situation is satisfactory.
Apart from these tourist areas, greater vigilance is required. The Department of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel in the Deep South of Tunisia, particularly the Algerian border (with the exception of the tourist area of "mountain oasis") and Libya. Travel in the Sahara region are subject to approval.
Because of social movements, avoid driving by the road in the governorates of Gafsa, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid, and focus on air travel. Curfews are sometimes effective.

Marrakech

Marrakech is one of the destinations that do more than ever dream ... even if his old lovers swear not recognize today their "Pearl of the South." This changing city can not be ignored.
A steady stream of visitors, stalls full of junk; a periphery changing with the construction of dozens of hotels and palaces promising total dream; the creation of a new city on the road to Safi, 7 miles away; a mégastade, the first in the kingdom, in preparation for the African Football Cup held in Morocco in 2015 ... So many things that tend to make Marrakech a city scarred by tourism ... And yet, open your eyes, let yourself be carried away by the colors, the smells, the undeniable charm of Marrakech, this bewitching and fascinating city!
The huge Jemaa el Fna and agitation (day and night!) Alone are worth the trip. It is also lost in the colorful souks and noisy, probably the richest, most diverse, the most fascinating countries. Thousand small businesses are everywhere. Tourism, often maligned, has greatly promoted the rediscovery of a flourishing craft today, and the rehabilitation of Marrakech architecture. Hammams neighborhood glibness sellers of everything and nothing added to the thrill of an unforgettable spell.
To understand and appreciate Marrakech, we have to stay a bit. So this imperial city appears like a jewel set in the natural setting that is not far, the High Atlas Mountains.
